Experienced Gutter Cleaning

As autumn approaches and the leaves and Pine needles begin to fall, gutter cleaning emerges as a crucial task for home maintenance. Our crews arrive equipped with ladders, safety gear, and powerful vacuums and blowers to clear gutters of debris, silt, and grime, ensuring rainwater flows freely away from foundations. Local residents report that routine gutter cleaning helps prevent water damage, ice dams, and pest infestations, safeguarding their investments against expensive repairs. Professionals recommend biannual cleanings, particularly after heavy storms, to keep homes protected and drainage systems
functioning optimally.

Why get your gutters cleaned?

Gutters are a very important aspect of keeping your home free of water damage. Having them cleaned on a regular basis can save you time and money. When gutters fill with leaves, dirt and other debris, the water can spill over, which might lead to water damage in your foundation or basement. In the winter, full gutters can form ice dams leading to water damage in your floors and walls. In the summer, they can hold highly flammable debris. Keeping them cleaned consistently is a good way to have peace of mind when it comes to the integrity and safety of your home.

How often should I clean my gutters?

MAC suggests once or twice a year depending on the amount of foliage you have around your gutters. The best time of the year is autumn after the leaves and pine needles fall from the trees, but spring is also a good time if you have a lot of foliage on your property, or if the winter has been especially harsh. Spring is also beneficial in order to remove any highly flammable debris before the fire season gets underway.

How do I get a gutter cleaning bid and what is the process?

If you are interested in using MAC Home Services for your gutter cleaning, you can reach out to us by phone, email, social media, or the Contact Us tab on this website. You will then speak to a representative and schedule time for a free gutter cleaning estimate. Once we have a contractor out to you, they will need to walk the perimeter of the home to measure the length of your gutters and take note of what MAC might need to complete the cleaning. Our contractor should be able to answer any questions you may have. You may also choose to add any of our other gutter related services, like installing gutter guards, cleaning the roof or including a water wash within the normal gutter cleaning package. The information we gather gets sent back to our scheduling representative and they will reach out to inform you of the estimate, and can then schedule the clean if you would like to move forward.

What should I expect?

When completing a gutter clean, MAC contractors will remove any dirt or debris from your gutters that blocks the water flow using their hands, scoops, or leaf blowers. Any downspout covers are carefully removed and cleaned as well. If there are any needles or leaves on the roof they can also be removed as part of the gutter clean.  Debris can be packed into bags and hauled away upon request, and anything on the ground that may have come from the gutters is picked up, as if the contractors were never there. They will inspect the gutters and gutter guards and let you know if there are any repairs that need to be done, or if any gutters need replacing. Once the cleaning has been completed, the MAC contractors will help you settle payment. Cash, check and card are all acceptable payment options, but be aware of the 3% processing fee in place for card payments.

What does it cost?

MAC charges gutter cleaning services by linear footage of the gutters being cleaned. Gutters on a single story house cost $1.50 per linear foot, and second story gutters cost $1.70 per linear foot. Roof cleans are measured by the amount of debris on the roof and how difficult it may be to remove it. There is a $5 bag fee to haul away any debris the MAC crew packs up if you don’t wish to dispose of it yourself. Gutter cleans have a $100 minimum bid. (Please note that while these are the prices MAC uses, the only way to get an official bid amount is for a MAC contractor to come out and survey the job. Other fees like the difficulty of the clean and distance may be a factor in your price.)

Should I tip my gutter cleaner?

Although tipping a gutter cleaner is a personal decision, it is a very nice gesture to show appreciation for a job well done. A good tip can vary between 10% and 20%, and help a contractor cover their lunch!
